Bulz gone bonkers.... Again

Amazon has tied up with content creators in India to create many series for Prime video. I watched Laakhon mein ek and Inside Edge. Both don't compare to the international series but are far superior to what we see on Indian television today. Laakhon Mein Ek LMK has been created by Biswa Kalyan Rath who is one of the best stand up comedians in the country. You must watch his live shows. The kind of energy he has on stage is amazing. He is genuinely funny and his content is very, very different from other comedians. LMK is a 6 episodes series (less than 30 mins long, thankfully) about a 15 year old, Akash, whose parents send him to an IIT entrance coaching institute in Vizag. He got 55% marks in 12th and wants to join Commerce but this is India and everyone must atleast try to be a doctor or an engineer even if it kills them.  The series isn't anything new but it's a story that can't be repeated enough number of times. Worth a watch. I hope season 2 cover...

I've read Neil Gaiman's book American Gods but wasn't impressed. He couldn't tie all the loose ends and the climax wasn't half as good as the build up. I wish he had written a sequel instead. The Amazon original series based on the books is stunning. It brings out the darkness in the book very well and keeps the viewer hooked. Hopefully, the climax in the series will be much better than the one in the book.  In fact, the series is far, far better than the book or atleast whatever I can remember of it. I am seeing this happen more and more where a series plugs all the holes in the book and the casting makes it far superior to the book.  Do catch this one. I read the book by Liane Moriarty and then watched the series on Shilpi's recommendation. The book is fabulous but the series tops that. Read the book but do not miss the series. It is about 3 friends who are mothers in a small town. Starring Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley and Alexander Skarsgard (so hot) it opens with a murder. We don't know who is murdered and don't find out till the end. Yet, the murder isn't the most gripping incident in the series. The three friends are dealing with major issues in their lives, ranging from date rape to domestic violence. I haven't come across a better portrayal of domestic violence. It is so realistic and made me realize that you never know what's going in the minds and lives of people closest to you. Shailene Woodley is such a fabulous actress and plays the complex role so well. The opening theme is so so so good that it is stuck in my head and I have to play it on loop over and over and over...

I am really sorry for how slow things are on this blog (and the other one too). I am trying to make the time. Hell, am even praying for an additional 2 hours in my day to accommodate all my hobbies and interests. I don't remember where I got the recommendation for Glow (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) but I started watching it few weeks back. It is about a show about a group of actresses in the 80s who featured in a women's wrestling show. It is over the top, campy but so much fun. There is a lot of drama with the lead protagonists not getting along over one's affair with another's husband, a messed up director, racism, a broke producer etc. The good news is that it has only 1 season as of yet so you can finish it in a week. A perfectly entertaining feel good show that requires no brain cells.
